Poll suggests gas plant scandal is hurting Kathleen Wynne

Forum Research’s latest survey shows that the gas plant controversy is hurting Premier Kathleen Wynne’s chances of forming the next government.

The Forum Research poll found Tim Hudak’s Progressive Conservatives now lead with 38 per cent support compared to 31 per cent for the Liberals, 23 per cent for the NDP and seven per cent for the Green Party.

Just before the gas plant scandal came to light, a poll revealed  the Liberals led with 35 per cent, the Tories were at 32 per cent, the NDP at 25 per cent and the Greens at 7 per cent.

The survey also shows that close to 45 per cent of Canadians believe that Wynne knew about the alleged deleted e-mails related to the gas plants. Close to 25 per cent of Canadians disagree with this statement and  31 per cent did not know whether or not believe the statement.

The survey also stated that 47 per cent of Canadians believe Wynne actually ordered someone to delete the e-mails. Nearly 26 percent disagree with this statement and 27 per cent are unsure of this statement.

Forum Research surveyed 928 people across Ontario on Apr. 1. The results are considered to be accurate within three percentage points, 19 times out of 20.
