Rally at U of T as teaching assistants prepare to strike

A rally of University of Toronto and York University teaching assistants, outside Simcoe Hall will take place at 3 p.m. Feb. 26, coinciding with a board of governors meeting.

Labs, tutorials and grading schedules may be disrupted as 6,000 U of T teaching assistants prepare for possible strike at midnight Feb. 26.

CUPE 3902, the union which represents the TAs, is pushing for a wage increase from $15,000 to $23,000 a year, the current low income cut-off for Toronto.

The teaching assistants at York University are also threatening strike over the same wage concerns.
