Man pronounced dead after high speed car crash

A man in his 40s died in a high speed car accident at 12:30 a.m. in Mississauga early Mar. 29.

It happened on Eglinton Avenue and Tomken Road.

Authorities said the man was driving at 190 kilometres and hour and lost control of his brand new BMW.  The vehicle hit a hydro pole and was split in half with the impact of the crash. The 46-year-old driver was killed upon impact.

The debris from the single vehicle collision spread out over a 700-meter perimeter.

Police are encouraging anyone who witnessed the accident to come forward.
