Russian mother decapitated in front of son

Russia’s Investigative Committee has opened a criminal investigation into the death of a 20-year old mother who was trapped in the doors of an elevator and decapitated in front of her two-year old son.

The Independent reports that on Feb. 6, Olga Tilinina returned home from a walk with her son. When she entered her apartment’s ground-floor elevator, the door suddenly slammed shut, trapping her legs.

Olga was able to push her son to safety before the elevator began ascending. She remained stuck between its doors.

Olga’s head eventually hit the ceiling of the elevator where it was subsequently decapitated from her body.

Olga’s neighbours said they often complained about the elevator and had requested a replacement. Reports say mechanics were repairing the elevator just hours before the incident.
