Prince Charles and his wife Camila are headed to Canada this spring. The royal pair will make stops in Manitoba, Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island in May.
While the Prince of Wales has visited Canada 17 times, it will be only the third visit for the Duchess of Cornwall.
The royal couple last visited Canada in 2012 to mark the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee.
Prime Minister Stephen Harper welcomed the news in a statement:
“I am pleased that Their Royal Highness’ will be joining us in a few months time as Canada enters a five-year period of significant national celebrations, beginning with the centennial of the outbreak of the Great War and the 150th anniversary of the Charlottetown and Québec City Conferences, which led to the creation of the Dominion of Canada.”
The news created a buzz on social media platforms causing mixed reaction. Many “tweeps” were happy about the news:
