Orangeville boy buried in snow bank dies

Police are warning about the dangers of playing in snow following a nine-year-old boy’s death near Orangeville.

The boy died in hospital after being pulled from a snow bank around 3:30 p.m. Feb. 5.

Police responded to an emergency call at the boy’s home. The boy’s mother was present and accompanied him to the hospital.

Some reports state the boy had been buried in a snow fort, but police say these reports have not been confirmed.

Police do warn that children should be taught about the dangers heavy snow falling on them.

Police are still investigating the incident and will not speculate about how the boy was buried in the snow bank.
