Russian police have officially identified two alleged suicide bombers believed to be responsible for the Volgograd bombings and have also detained another two suspected accomplices.
The National Anti-Terrorism Committee have identified the suspected suicide bombers as Asker Samedov and Suleiman Magomedov and have stated that the two bombers belong to the Buinaksk militant group in the southern Russian province of Dagestan.
The two other accomplices who have been detained are brothers. The brothers are from Dagestan, which is located in the North Caucasus region of Russia. The brothers are held on suspicion of assisting the suicide bombers in traveling to Volgograd. The Volgograd twin bombings in December killed 34 people and injured many others.
Volgograd is known as a major rail hub in Russia and if you are traveling from Moscow or other parts of central Russia, you travel through Volgograd to get to Sochi.
Volgograd and Sochi are easily accessible to each other using the Volgograd rail system, so the Volgograd bombings are a cause of concern for the quickly approaching Sochi Olympics.
