Canadian-Honduras Free Trade Agreement debate begins

Members of Parliament had their first chance to debate the Canada-Honduras free trade agreement Jan. 29.

The debate on the Canadian-Honduras free trade agreement termed, “Canada-Honduras Economic Growth and Prosperity Act” began in the House of Commons.

The unpopular  deal  gained support from the Liberals and fierce opposition from the New Democratic Party.

In November 2013, Canada and Honduras signed a deal would establish a free trade area where commerce in goods and services can be conducted across the common borders.

This deal has been unpopular because of the reputation Honduras has gained as ‘murder capital of the world’.
