More than 550 taxi cab owners and drivers gathered at City Hall council chambers today to voice their concerns over a proposed report that would likely lead to an increase in taxi fares.
The key recommendation is the introduction of a new licensing structure called Toronto Taxicab License.
Those against the proposal believe that authorities are “trying to fix something that ain’t broken.”
Other recommendations relate to accessibility, driver safety and technology.
The final report is expected to be presented to City Council Feb. 19th.
