Woman tries to smuggle drugs into Milton Jail

A 25-year-old woman is facing several charges after an attempt to smuggle approximately 2.2 grams of meth into Maplehurst Correctional Centre in Milton.

Police say the Maplehurst Liaison Team arrested Amanda Villeneuve at approximately 7 p.m Feb. 18. The arrest was made moments before the meth could be passed along to the intended inmate.

Police also say Amanda Villeneuve in the past has impersonated another female to gain access to the correctional centre.

Villeneuve is now facing several charges including possession for the purpose of trafficking, impersonating and failure to comply with probation.

Villeneuve is scheduled to appear at a bail hearing in Milton court Feb.19.
