Sheridan College alumni receive Oscar nominations

Three Sheridan College alumni have been nominated for three of five Oscar nominated films in the best feature category for this years’ 2015 Oscar awards.

The Oscar nominations included, Big Hero Six directed by Chris Williams, How to Train Your Dragon 2, written and directed by Dean Deblois and The Boxtrolls, directed by Graham Annable.

Sheridan College alumnus Chris Williams graduated from the Classical Animation program in 1993 and is currently a director at Disney Animations.

Graham Annable is a 1991 graduate of  Classical Animation and is co-director of the film company LAIKA.  Annable had previous Oscar nominations, including, Coraline and Paranorman.

Dean Deblois is a 1990 animation graduate. He also has previously won the award for best animated feature at the 2015 Golden Globes award.

In spirit of the Oscar nominations, the Sheridan community is hosting a special Oscar celebration event at the Trafalgar campus pub,  The Marquee, on Feb. 22 at 7 p.m.

Sheridan College is recognized worldwide as one of the leading institutions for animation and film-related programs.

Sheridan grads have also worked on other popular films including, Milan, Toy Story 2 and Swan.

 This year, the Oscar will held on Feb. 22 in California.
