The UFC has announced that bantamweight champion Renan Barao will face off against TJ Dillashaw in the main event of UFC 173 on Saturday, May 24 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.
Barao is currently the third-ranked pound-for-pounder fighter in the world with a record of 33 – 0. A win over Dillashaw (10-2) could move him even farther up the ladder.
Dillashaw enters the bout riding a unanimous decision victory over Mike Easton in January. To prepare for his upcoming fight against Barao he has been training under former UFC fighter Dane Ludwig.
Another bout worth noting on the UFC 173 card is Robbie Lawler (22-10-1) vs Jake Ellenberger (29-7). It’s expected to be an exciting match-up, as both fighters have heavy hands and knock-out power.
