After knocking out Mauricio “Shogun” Rau last weekend at UFC Fight Night 38, Dan Henderson took to Twitter Monday night to call out Lyote Machida. Machida was scheduled to face Middleweight champion Chris Weidman for the belt, but Weidman has been sidelined with a knee injury.
“Hey @danawhite, let me have @lyotomachidafw, just like you let him have @jonnybones when I got hurt @ufc

Henderson and Machida have fought once already. The first time that Henderson fought Machida was in February of 2013 for the co-main event at UFC 157, in what many considered to be a very lacklustre fight. Henderson lost a close split-decision, and has always maintained that he believes Machida was “running” from him for most of the fight. That fight was Machida’s last at Light Heavyweight.
At 43 years of age, it is unclear how much longer Henderson will continue to fight for, but many fans would love to see him fight for a belt at least once more before he calls it quits.
