Oakland teen wounded in shooting expected to recover

A teenage boy was wounded in a drive-by shooting Jan. 9 in Oakland, CA.

The teen was at a bus stop near Rudsdale Continuation School, where he is a student, around 10 a.m. when he was shot in the side.

Unconfirmed reports say the student, whose name has not yet been released, is either 17 or 18 years of age.

School district spokesman Troy Flint says the boy ran to the nearby Bay Area Technology School after the shooting. A school employee at the campus drove him to a nearby hospital, according to reports from Inside Bay Area News.

The boy is expected to make a full recovery from his wounds, which do not appear to be life-threatening.
