The 2014 Winter Olympic games in Sochi will be commemorated by the introduction of 50 new artifacts into the Hockey Hall of Fame.
A new exhibit coming to hockey’s most hallowed hall later this month will include a helmet worn by Canada’s Martin St. Louis as well as the jersey sported by Canadian goaltender Carey Price in his 1-0 shutout of the United States in the men’s semi-final.
“The Hockey Hall of Fame is always appreciative of donations from any championship,” said Hockey Hall of Fame chairman Pat Quinn in a statement released Mar. 6.
“I know from competing at the Olympic level, how important these games are, and how important these pieces of hockey history are to our visitors from around the world.”
Also included in the exhibit are pucks from the women’s bronze medal game, jerseys worn by women’s hockey stars Caroline Ouellette of Canada and Amanda Kessel of the United States, as well as gloves sported by Canadian men’s forward Jamie Benn.
The Hockey Hall of Fame in Toronto has been collecting artifacts from the sport since its founding in 1943.
