Federal prosecutors will seek the death penalty for the Boston Marathon bombing suspect Dzhokhar Tsarnaev.
Attorney General Eric Holder’s decision was announced Jan. 30.
Tsarnaev and his brother, Tamerlan, allegedly planted two pressure cooker bombs close to the marathon’s finish line.
The blasts killed three people and injured more than 260, in one of America’s most notorious terrorist attacks.
Tamerlan Tsarnaev was killed in a shootout with police four days after the bombings.
The suspects, ethnic Chechens, lived in Boston for about a decade after moving from Russia.
Tsarnaev has pleaded not guilty to the charges, including using a weapon of mass destruction of kill. Seventeen of 30 charges carry the possibility of the death penalty.
