Woman strangled by scarf in escalator

A woman died Thursday morning after her scarf got caught in a Montreal Metro station escalator.

The 47-year-old woman was strangled to death after her scarf became stuck in the escalator’s teeth. When she bent down to free her scarf, her hair got caught as well.

First responders raced to the Favre station, where they found the woman in cardiac arrest. They were unable to resuscitate her.

Police will be reviewing surveillance footage to learn more about how the woman was caught.
