A semi truck loaded with bottles of wine collided with another truck on the Trans-Canada Highway west of Hope, B.C. Jan 15 at 9 p.m., causing traffic problems for hours. Pulp from the second vehicle was also spread all over highway 1.
RCMP say a 30-year-old man from Abbotsford lost control of his vehicle and drove across the centre median, hitting another semi truck driven by a 57 year old man from Delta, B.C. Neither driver was hurt but one of the semi-trailers was ripped apart from the force of the collision.
Cpl. Robert McDonald with RCMP Traffic Services says the Abbotsford man has been charged with driving without due care and attention. Both vehicles are being examined to determine if there were any mechanical problems before the crash.
Clean up of the site, which is 150 km east of Vancouver, took over 10 hours.
Police are asking for any witnesses of the accident to call them with details about the incident.
