The Islamic State has claimed responsibility for an attack on a Tunisian museum Mar. 18.
In an audio message, IS said the attack was carried out by “two knights of the caliphate” and named them as Abu Zakariya al-Tunisi and Abu-Anas al-Tunisi.
A statement published by Twitter accounts known to be reliable sources of IS propaganda described the attack as a “blessed invasion of one of the dens of infidels and vice in Muslim Tunisia.”
Nine people have been arrested in connection with the attacks. Allegedly, four were directly linked to the attack and five had ‘ties to the cell.’
Of the 23 who were killed, 20 were tourists from Japan, Colombia, the UK and other European countries. More than 40 people were injured. Some of the countries involved have given different numbers and not all the dead have been identified.
