The body of a Canadian man who appears to have been beaten to death was found on a beach March 18. His body was discovered near a resort in Los Cabos, Mexico.
Mexican police are listing the cause of death as severe head trauma and a fractured skull. They also say that the man appears to have been beaten with a blunt object.
The man’s identity and hometown have not been been confirmed by Canada’s Department of Foreign Affairs, Trade and Development. The Canadian government has also not yet commented on the circumstances surrounding the man’s death.
This is the second Canadian death in the Baja California Sur province of Mexico in as many weeks. A woman was killed last week when a grey whale surfaced and hit the boat she was on. Two other people were injured during that incident.
On March 14 a group of tourists was robbed and had one of their boats stolen, which was later recovered by the Mexican Navy.
Authorities have stepped up patrols in the area in response to these incidents.
