Cause of Bob Simon’s death released

It has now been confirmed CBC correspondent Bob Simon died of head injuries and was pronounced dead on arrival at  St. Luke’s-Roosevelt Hospital in New York February 11th.

Simon was in the back seat of a taxi, a Lincoln Town Car, when it hit a Mercedes-Benz that was stopped at a red light, according to the New York Police Department. Simon was reportedly not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash, said the police.

While the investigation continues early reports indicated the taxi driver may have been speeding. The driver of the town car has been identified as 44-year-old Abdul Reshad Fedahi.  Fedahi is in stable condition.
