Photo Essay: Bill C-51 protest in Toronto

On March 14 2015, more than  1500 people gathered in Toronto to protest Prime Minister Harper’s proposed anti-terror legislation.

The government says Bill C-51 is designed to curb terrorist activity on Canadian soil. However, many people are worried that it will strip citizens of their rights to privacy and freedom of speech.

Parallel protests against the bill took place in cities and towns across Canada the same day. Other major cities participating in the rallies included Vancouver, Montreal and Ottawa.
