GTA finally gets warmer weather

Looks like residents of the GTA are finally breaking free from what seemed like a long prison sentence of winter.

After a frigid few months, Environment Canada has forecast that warmer weather has arrived and will be staying for a while.

The spring-like conditions have brought the temperature to daytime highs of 4C and over for five days in a row.  This is a relief after 37 extreme cold warnings this winter, with a -30C as recently as last Wednesday.

Although the rainy weather will arrive this weekend, most will rejoice at simply being able to finally crack a window and let fresh air into their homes.

The record breaking cold weather of January and February have frozen a lot of lakes, streams, rivers and ponds.

With the increase in temperature, conservation authorities remind residents of the dangers that these waters will bringing as they melt.  Residents are urged to take precautions by keeping family and pets away from the edge of all waterways.
