Quebec education minister quits

Quebec’s Education Minister, Yves Bolduc has resigned in the wake of the strip-search scandal comments.

In addition to quitting the cabinet, Bolduc has given up his Quebec City-area seat in the provincial legislature.

Bolduc got into hot water earlier this month after saying strip searching high school students is permissible. His remarks came after a 15-year-old Quebec girl was stripped searched because she was suspected of selling drugs.

During recent weeks, Bolduc has become a source of embarrassment for the Liberals.

The now-former minister will be returning to practicing medicine.

Before serving as minister of Education, he spent four years, from 2008 to 2012, as Quebec’s minister of Health.
