ISIS prisoner exchange deadline expires

The deadline given by ISIS to exchange convicted suicide bomber Sajida Al-Rishawi for Jordanian Pilot Al-Kassasbeh has passed.

On Jan. 27,  ISIS posted an audio message on YouTube read out by the Japanese hostage Kenji Goto. The message stated that ISIS wants to exchange the Jordanian pilot for Al-Rishawi, an Iraqi woman being held in Jordan for her involvement in a bombing in 2005.

ISIS had threatened to kill Al- Kasasbeh and Kenji Goto if the exchange was not made by sunset Jan. 29 in Syria. The deadline has since passed and fate of the hostages hangs in the balance.
