Homegrown porn not Canadian enough

Canadian porn producers may have a reason to celebrate after the CRTC told a group of Canadian porn channels they are failing to meet Canadian content requirements.

The CRTC says channels owned by Toronto-based Channel Zero, including porn stations AOV Adult Movie Channel, AOV XXX Action Clips and AOV Maleflixxx, are not complying with the requirement to provide 35 per cent Canadian content.

This is great news for Canadian porn producers, who now expect to see significant industry growth in the near future.

Many Canadian pornographers say they plan to copy the American model of making parody pornography, a model that has proven to be successful south of the border in recent years with high budget productions such as Pirates and Pirates II.

Canadian adult film company “Pound the Duck” has announced its intention to shoot a series of Canadian-themed porn videos, including one parody erotic film based on the life of Kevin O’Leary titled “The Dragon’s Stank”.

They also plan to film a porn based on the life of disgraced former senator Patrick Brazeau and his adventures working at an Ottawa strip club after leaving the Canadian Senate in 2013.

The company also announced plans to film a surrealist S&M themed porn which is being described as “really just an analogy for Canadian’s relationship with the Harper government” by Director Alan J. Hamersberg.

The CRTC says it is accepting public feedback until April 4 and will hold a hearing April 28.
