David Bowie wins British Music Awards male artist of the year

Despite his absence at the awards show, David Bowie was named the British Music Awards male solo artist of the year.

This is Bowies first BRIT in 18 years.

Fashion model Kate Moss accepted the award on his behalf. Moss read out Bowie’s personally written acceptance speech, which stated that he was “completely delighted” with the award.

The speech finished with a political plea from Bowie when he said, “Scotland, stay with us.” He is requesting that Scotland not vote in favour of independence in a referendum scheduled for later this year.

Moss wore Bowie’s iconic Ziggy Stardust jumpsuit as she accepted the award.
