Man arrested in slaying of a Canadian couple in Mexico

Police have made an arrest in connection with the murder of an elderly Canadian couple in  Mexico last weekend.

Julio Cesar Castello Casellas, 31, has been arrested after Nina Discombe, 72, and Edward Kular, 84, were found dead in their home in Ajijic on Sunday, Mexican officials have confirmed.

Police are also searching for his 22-year-old brother, Angel Dejesus. Dejesus is a construction worker who was working on a home behind Discombe and Kular’s.

The couple was found dead in their home by their gardener. Kular had been beaten on the head with a small statue, and Discombe had been stabbed in the stomach with a kitchen knife.

Police believe the murders were a case of a robbery gone wrong.

They allege the two brothers broke into the home to steal a big screen TV, thinking that the couple would be asleep. When they found the couple awake, they killed the husband and wife to prevent them from recognizing the robbers.
