Only one spot remains in the FIFA U-20 World Cup Canada 2014 women’s tournament after Brazil and Paraguay secured their berths.
The South American squads advanced to the next round at the CONMEBOL qualifying campaign in Fray Bentos, Uruguay.
This will be Paraguay’s debut in the 16-country women’s soccer tournament while Brazil will be playing for the sixth time.
Last but not least
The final team to fill the spot will come from Oceania, most likely from New Zealand. It has been the strongest team and has won every OFC U-20 Women’s Championship since Australia left for the Asian Football Confederation.
The U-20 World Cup tournament is set for Aug 5-24 in Edmonton, Moncton, Montreal and Toronto.It is seen as a test run for the FIFA Women’s World Cup in Canada in 2015.
Canada, as host, qualifies automatically.
