Homeless men charged in New Delhi rape

New Delhi police have arrested two homeless men in the case of the Danish woman who was reportedly gang raped and robbed near Connaught Place, a popular shopping area in New Delhi.

Police say one of the suspects was found with the victim’s glasses case and nearly $18 in cash. The other had an iPod, a pair of earphones and a mobile phone he had purchased with money stolen from the victim.

According to police, on Jan. 14 the 51-year-old woman asked a group of men for directions back to her hotel after she became lost. Instead of assisting her, they led her to a secluded area where she was raped and robbed at knife-point.

More than 15 homeless men were brought in for questioning, but police are still looking for six other men suspected of participating in the incident.
