The Leafs beat the Sens 5-4 in NHL action last night, but the loss of Ottawa rookie David Dziurzynski is what people are talking about today.
Dziurzynski’s night ended very early after he got into a fight with Frazer McLaren of the Leafs and was on the wrong end of a devastating knockout.
The bout happened only 26 seconds into the game. Dziurzynski was down for quite some time before being helped off the ice. He did not return to the game and was later diagnosed with a concussion.
That’s three wins in a row for the Leafs, who are right back it tonight in Boston, but they’re far from the hottest team in hockey.
That title remains with the Chicago Blackhawks, who won their 11th straight last night, 3-2 over Colorado. The Hawks were trailing 2-1 going into the third period but goals by Jonathan Toews and Daniel Carcillo gave Chicago yet another victory.
The win extended the Hawks’ point streak to 24 games – 21 wins and three overtime losses. The regular season is half over, and they have yet to lose in regulation time this year.
