Two Canadian space stars have live chat

Beam me up Chris.

A video chat between real life Canadian astronaut Chris Hadfield and Canadian-born actor William Shatner — popularly known as Star Trek’s Captain James Kirk — was beamed live from the International Space Station yesterday by the Canadian Space Agency.

Hadfield is not a typical astronaut living in space. Not only is  he the first Canadian to command the International Space Station, he’s doing it with a world of followers.

With the help of social media and Internet, Hadfield hasn’t missed a beat from his home country. Not only is he keeping in touch with fans and friends through his Twitter page, he is sharing some of the most astonishing space photos for the Earthlings.

Hadfield had previously exchanged tweets with Shatner after arriving on the ISS in December.

On Dec. 19, 2012, Hadfield and his crew got aboard the Soyuz Spacecraft  for their five month journey in space for Expedition 34. Traveling 24 miles away from Earth, Hadfield is recording a music album while he carries out scientific expemiments and operates the 17-meter long Canadarm2.
