Toronto faces a severe snowstorm set to hit Southern Ontario tonight and continue throughout Friday.
Environment Canada is predicting up to 10cm tonight with winds moving east at 20 km/h. On Friday, it expects 10-15 additional centimeters with blowing winds reaching 40 km/h and gusting up to 60 km/h. The storm will be over by Saturday and sunshine is expected to return along with cold temperatures.[hr]

On Monday, The Weather Network is calling for rain, which could mean some snow may begin to disappear only to return again mid-week when there is a chance of flurries.
The Weather Network notes Toronto has not had a storm predicted to be this bad since 2008. On The Weather Network website, users can track the progression of the storm.

The snowstorm in 2008 isn’t the worst storm Ontario has seen. In 1998, an ice storm lasting five days caused severe damage. According to Environment Canada, 28 people died, 945 people were injured, and 4 million people in Ontario, Quebec, and New Brunswick lost power. The roads were covered in ice causing many accidents.

The Canadian Encyclopedia states Kingston, Ontario received 73mm of ice. Ottawa gained 8 The 8mm. The Canadian Forces were called in to help people under “Operation Recuperation”. It was the largest peacetime deployment with 16,000 troops.
