Former Indian Police Services officer Kiran Bedi is now a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party ahead of the Feb. 7 Delhi polls.
At the party headquarters, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley and BJP chief Amit Shah welcomed her into the party. While it hasn’t been confirmed, India’s first female police officer might be BJP’s ministerial candidate.
She may be pitted against her former colleague Arvind Kejriwal. On Twitter, Aam Aadmi Party chief Arvind Kejriwal welcomed Bedi into politics.
I have been fond of Kiran Bedi ji. I always tried to convince her that she shud join politics. I am happy she did it today.

Some political leaders are unhappy about Ms Bedi’s alignment with the BJP, but Kiran Bedi is confident in her abilities.
Delhi will get a stable, honest, hardworking, inclusive, sensitive, trusting, progressive, experienced governance. Thanku @PMOIndia+BJP leadership
